Juno the Shiba Inu

Introducing little Juno, the newest addition to our family.

We first came across the Shiba Inu breed on our Taiwan travels during Christmas. Maybe popular there, due to the geographic proximity of Japan, where the breed originates.

We have been thinking of getting a puppy for a while now, and looked at a few different breeds. We made a list of all the things we wanted in a dog and the Shiba Inu ticked all the boxes. The temperament sounded like a perfect fit with our lifestyle, an intelligent and independent breed, aswell as being affectionate and loyal.

After months of searching high and low for a female Shiba Inu in Australia, we finally found a reputable breeder in Western Australia who has an amazing passion for Shiba Inu’s with Champions in Australia and around the world.

Born on 31 March 2011, Juno comes from a litter of five puppies (three girls and two boys) with an extrodinary pedigree. We emailed and phoned with the breeder each week, where we got updates on puppies progress.

Valentine’s Day

No fancy restaurant could compare to what I experienced last night, I had the most amazing home cooked meal that was lovingly prepared just for me.

Smoked salmon and cream cheese vola vents and oyster kilpatrick, followed by tender roasted duck with crisp oven browned potatoes, baked sweet potato and mushrooms.

~ New Year 2007 ~

Another year has come and gone quickly, we spent New Years Eve with family and friends in the comfort of our home. And how could we not have a good old Aussie bbq to bring us into the New Year.

Originally we planned on catching the train out to the city to watch the fireworks, but I didn’t really care to be stuck on a hot, stinky evening with hoards of people.

Overall I’m pleased with how 2006 panned out, but I felt it lacked something. Not sure what though. Since it’s a fresh start, this time around I will take the time to sit down and plan out the things I want to achieve by the end of the year. A few of the things I’ve wanted are finally happening as well, so I’m off to a good start.

I’ll be a graduating Masters student this year, the ceremony will be held in May sometime. Mother has already asked me what i will be studying next. As much as I have enjoyed studying part time for the last ~ years, i think it’s about time for a break and focus on other aspects. It will be interesting to come back to this post at the end of the year and see what i’ve achieved during the span of 12 months.

Anyways as a reward, I’m treating myself to a holiday, I’ve never really had a holiday since i started working, I always had the combination of full time work and part time study, which left me little free time. I’m happy to report that i’ll be leaving for asia, begining of March, spending a month siteseeing, stress free. My little sister Doris tells me it’s foodie mecca, maybe not in those exact words but close enough.

I have a backlog of post that need to be published too, so hopefully by the end of the week most of them will be up.

I’ve Returned!

It’s been nearly a month since I’ve last posted any new recipes or comments here. Let me assure you I’ve still been cooking regularly, just haven’t had a chance to put up the photo and recipe.

There are so many changes I want to make for this site though, like the sidebar and the general look of it all. Which takes me a fair bit of time since most of the things I’m doing I’m learning as I go. I’ve noticed the change over from the old address to present has caused a few hiccups here and there. Some of my recipes have question marks where measurements like 1/2, 1/3, ¼ should be, and faulty links too next step is to painstakingly go through ever page to make sure everything’s back on track.

Off the topic of kitchen related events, i’ve been pretty stoked about finishing my course, I’m so happy, now I come home from work and no longer worry about assignments or studying for exams. After all those years and choosing to study part time, making it twice as long, it’s finally come to a close, another completed chapter. I have to wait two more weeks to know the final mark, but I’m confident it should be good news.

The Lake House

200px-Poster-lakehouse.jpgI absolutely adored watching the original Korean version of this movie called Il Mare (The Sea) with the characters Sung Hyun and Eun Joo.
So was greatly looking forward to the American remake with two of my favorite characters, Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock.

If you enjoy watching romantic love stories, this is one with a few twists and turns. Keep an open mind when watching this and you will really enjoy it. The main characters Alex (Keanu) and Kate (Sandra) communicate between two different years through a magical mail box, and like any good romance they gradually fall in love through their letters to each other.

Adding some spice to things, we find out that Alex and Kate have met on a few occasions already with out realising the significance the other held. They tempt fate by arranging to meet but will it turn out how Kate expects…..

Enjoyable movie to watch!
